The Warwick

The Warwick is a residential development and was an unusual project as the new build had to be connected to an existing heritage building. The site on the corner of Main and Wessels Roads in Green Point was a consolidation of three erven and included the three-storey Warwick Mansions, a heritage building. As the heritage building had to be retained, it was renovated and incorporated into the overall design.

The new build included two levels of basement parking and twelve floors with a shared reception and access area on the ground floor between the old Warwick Mansions and the new Warwick building. The new building was designed to soften its visual impact on the immediate environment by matching the lower section’s height to that of Warwick Mansions.

The remaining two sections were recessed to lessen the bulk-mass impact of the building on street level. In total the development was a mix of studio, one-, two-and-three-bedroom apartments and included the construction of five swimming pools. The apartment on the penultimate floor of the new Warwick building was designed with a private pool terrace on the twelfth floor.
