Isipani Construction’s founder Jan van der Sluys was actively involved in the business’s day-to-day operations, overseeing the different sites, meeting with clients and suppliers, and ensuring that his teams understood the importance of attention to detail and working to the highest standards.
Today, our management team is just as committed and involved in the business, applying the same ethos and attention to detail as Jan van der Sluys did more than 60 years ago. Our directors and shareholders are active on site, collaborating with our teams, clients, and suppliers daily, ensuring everything is running according to schedule and that the work produced is of the highest standard.
As a leadership team we consider our people to be our greatest asset and have a proud tradition of investing in them through ongoing training and skills development; a commitment to the safety and well-being of all our workers; and an entrenched management-participation policy.
Meet Isipani Construction's Directors
Wynand Smit
Managing Director of Isipani Construction, Director of Isipani Holdings
Wynand joined the company in 1995 while studying at the Cape Technikon. He was promoted to contract manager in 2004, became a director of Isipani Construction in 2011, and a director of Isipani Holdings in 2015. Wynand, who holds a National Diploma in Building Technology, became managing director of Isipani Construction in 2016 and has been with the company for 29 years.
Grant Robertson
Contracts Director of Isipani Construction, Director of Isipani Holdings, Isipani Foundation Director
Grant joined Isipani Construction as a foreman in 1997. He was promoted to contracts manager in 2004, became a director of Isipani Construction in 2011, and a director of Isipani Holdings in 2015. He also sits on the board of the Isipani Foundation. Grant holds a BSc Building degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and has been with the company for 27 years.
Gizelle Clayton
Trustee of Isipani Workers Trust, Director of Isipani Construction
Gizelle Clayton joined Isipani Construction in 2008 as an occupational health and safety officer, after working for Concor Holdings (Huguenot Tunnel). She became a trustee of the Isipani Workers Trust in 2014 and has represented the Workers Trust on Isipani Construction’s board of directors since 2019. Gizelle has been with the company for 16 years
Gerrit van Niekerk
Financial Director Isipani Construction, Director of Isipani Holdings, and Isipani Foundation Director
Gerrit van Niekerk was appointed as Isipani Construction’s financial manager and secretary in 2004. He is a chartered accountant and holds a B Accounting Hons Degree from Stellenbosch University, as well as a postgraduate diploma in auditing from Unisa. Gerrit became Isipani Construction’s Financial Director in 2011, a director of Isipani Construction in 2011, and a director of Isipani Holdings in 2015. Gerrit has been with the company for 20 years.
Pieter Lamprechts
Contracts Director of Isipani Construction, Director of Isipani Holdings
Pieter joined Isipani Construction as a foreman in 2003. He was promoted to site manager in 2006, contract manager in 2018, and ultimately contracts director in 2022. With over 21 years of dedicated service, he continues to make significant contributions to the company. Pieter holds an ND Building and Civil N6 tertiary qualification.
Hannes Sliep
Director of Isipani Construction, Director of Isipani Holdings
Hannes Sliep joined the company as a quantity surveyor in 2013 and became a director of Isipani Construction in 2019.
Hannes is a professional quantity surveyor (PrQS); MRICS and holds a BSc Hons (Quantity Surveying) from the University of the Free State and previously worked for the De Leeuw Group in Stellenbosch. He has been with Isipani for 11 years.
Ray-Ann Sedres
Chairperson of the Isipani Foundation, Director of Isipani Construction
Ray-Ann Sedres is an independent director of Isipani Construction and serves as chairperson of the Isipani Foundation. In 2014, the Foundation nominated her to represent its interests on Isipani Construction’s board of directors. She holds a BCom degree from UNISA, and an MBA from Stellenbosch University, and is the Chief Transformation Officer at Sanlam. Ray-Ann has been with the company for 6 years
Paschal Taute
Director at Isipani Construction
Paschal joined Isipani Construction in 2013 as a junior quantity surveyor. He was promoted to quantity surveyor and estimator in 2018. In 2021 he was appointed as a director on Isipani Construction’s board, representing the Employee Trust. He is also actively involved in the Isipani Foundation. Paschal holds a BTech degree in Quantity Surveying and has been with Isipani for 11 years.
