The Isipani Construction team completed a new centralised distribution centre for SolarMD in December 2024. SolarMD is an energy storage leader in Southern Africa, and exports their products in the entire worldwide market. They specialize in battery storage products ranging from household battery backup systems to large industrial size containerized battery back up systems. They produce their products in-house in the SolarMD warehouse facility.

The SolarMD project, situated in the Richmond business park, is a highly modern office and warehouse facility. With large glass facades and high-end finishes, the office portion of the project provides the tenant with a functional and modern office space. The large warehouse facility features a FM2-class flat floor, and the high roof provides a large storage facility suited for high-volume and high-stacking-height storage.

The 2,200m² meter office space features ultra-modern kitchens and ablution facilities, with glass partitioned enclosed and private offices. The large open area offices on the first floor offer view panels into the warehouse facility, offering an impressive view onto the storage and production facilities of SolarMD.

The 10,500m² warehouse has a high-level roof, providing storage stacking heights up to 13 meters. The current internal layout has a several production and staging areas in addition to the storage areas. The superflat floor offers excellent workability for forklifts and delivery vehicles alike. The project was constructed using “tilt-up” columns and walls as the frame, with structural steel and sheeting as the main façade elements.
