Service: Construction of a 14,800m2 Shopping centre in Malmesbury. Situated on the corner of the N7 and Piketberg Road. The Centre hosts about 50 line-shops of which Checkers and Food Lover’s Market and Clicks are anchor tenants.

The De Zwartland Retail Centre is a transformative addition to the Swartland district, delivering a much-anticipated modern shopping destination. Isipani Construction is proud to have played a pivotal role in bringing this ambitious project to life. This state-of-the-art centre forms part of the 41,000m² De Zwartland Werf development, situated conveniently alongside the N7 just outside Malmesbury.

Awarded to Isipani on 25 October 2022, the project commenced shortly after site handover on 8 November 2022. As the largest structure within the Devmark development, the retail centre spans 15,000m², serving as the focal point of a vibrant precinct that also includes a Crestcare hospital, a Toyota dealership, and a luxury apartment block.

The De Zwartland Retail Centre hosts approximately 50 shops, with Checkers and Food Lover’s Market as anchor tenants. Other national brands such as PnP Clothing, the Mr Price Group, Clicks, and Woolworths add to the diverse shopping experience. A dedicated restaurant block, featuring a fully tiled façade, enhances the aesthetic with a modern yet “green” feel that complements the overall design.

One of the standout architectural features of the project is the unique curved entrance structures made of concrete, which contribute to the centre’s striking and contemporary appeal.

The Isipani team overcame challenges such as design changes and early winter rainfall during parking area construction, demonstrating expertise and adaptability throughout the project. From the initial roof installation in February 2023 to the successful completion of construction, every milestone was achieved with precision and efficiency.

The De Zwartland Retail Centre officially opened its doors on 26 October 2023, providing the Swartland community with a premier shopping experience. With its mix of retail, dining, and convenience, the centre has already become a landmark destination for the region.
