This large-scale hyperscale data centre development is located within the Brackengate Business Park in Brackenfell, Cape Town. Constructed for the client, the facility forms part of the client’s expanding data centre campus and contributes an additional 30 MW of critical IT load capacity to one of Africa’s leading colocation and interconnection providers.

The development comprises a ground floor, first floor, second floor and concrete roof structure, with a total floor area of approximately 39,600 m². The project includes multiple data halls, plant areas, office accommodation, meeting rooms and associated infrastructure required to support a modern hyperscale data centre environment.

Construction commenced in May 2023 and required substantial quantities of materials, including more than 25,000 m³ of concrete, approximately 5,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel and over two million bricks. At peak construction, the project accommodated more than 820 personnel on site, including Isipani staff and subcontractors.

The scale and technical nature of the development presented several challenges, including stringent health and safety requirements, complex logistics management and the coordination of multiple trades within a highly controlled operating environment. Extensive planning and collaboration between the client, consultants, subcontractors and project team were essential to the successful delivery of the facility.

This substantial project showcases Isipani Construction’s capability in delivering large and technically demanding infrastructure projects while maintaining the high standards of quality, safety and programme management required within the data centre sector.
