Benguela Cove is a wine estate situated on the Bot River Lagoon near Hermanus and is one of the largest wine producers in Walker Bay. Over the years Isipani’s construction teams have come to expect tight deadlines when working on wine estates because building work invariably needs to be sandwiched in between two harvest seasons. Benguela Cove was no exception. Here the challenge was to progress with the cellar to the point where the cellar could be operational by January — in time for the grape harvest. The development included a new cellar, restaurant, tasting room, sales section, vinoteque, an open-air leisure and entertainment area and an enclosed courtyard with a covered walkway. The estate’s courtyard area and tasting room overlook a farm dam and the Bot River Lagoon. A mini-golf course with a pirate theme was also built for children and is situated next to the dam. The 18-hole put-put course is serviced by a small retail area, kitchen and a party room.
